Special for Bodybuilding Weekly

Tamiko Shibata, an amateur female bodybuilding competitor from the United States, has received a lifetime ban from the INBA (International Bodybuilding Association) after returning positive World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) tests.  Tamiko, who won first place at the 2008 Natural Olympia in San Francisco, subsequently and allegedly tested positive for the following compounds:  Clenbuterol, Letrozole Metabolite and Tamoxifen.

Tamiko Shibata, who is a commanding officer in the headquarters company at the United States Marine Corps Communications-Electronics School, had the following to say after placing second in the women's open division while competing in 2004:   "I know that I could have done better," said Shibata. "One thing that I changed with my training for this show was that I added more size.  The natural bodybuilding association look towards how toned you are and not how much muscle you have which other bodybuilding associations look at."

Regardless of your personal beliefs regarding non-over the counter supplements, we at Bodybuilding Weekly feel that Tamiko Shibata is to be admired for competing as a top bodybuilder while at the same time serving actively in the United States Marine Corp.  We hope and expect that she will be welcomed as a competitor in other federations.

Tamiko is a 1992 graduate of Righetti High School in Santa Maria, California.  Tamiko was featured on "Natural Bodybuilding Radio" in November 2008.  The radio show can be accessed outside of the United States by downloading here.

Next year's INBA Natural Olympia will be held in Queensland, Australia from November 12th to 15th, 2009.  It will be promoted by Jason Woodforth, and is notable because the People's Republic of China will send it first team ever to compete after recently joining the INBA.
