Here is your Bodybuilding Weekly guide to the Europa Super Show this weekend in Dallas .... just follow the links and we'll tell you everything that you need to know in order to maximize your weekend whether you are in Texas or staying home!!
When to Tune In
The whole shebang will be happening at the Dallas Convention Center, which is conveniently attached to the Hyatt Regency, the event host hotel. IFBB pre-judging for everyone will start at 5:30pm central time on Friday, then the finals for all the professionals will begin at 1:45pm on Saturday.
The NPC (amateur) portion of the event promises to be just as exciting, and the pre-judging begins early on Saturday morning at 8am. The amateur finals will be at 7pm in the evening.
If you're into powerlifting, and you haven't seen enough already from Beijing, then you'll want to be at the Expo on Friday from 6-10pm and then again on Saturday morning. The BSN Hot Body Fitness Model contest is also a big deal - with over $6,000 in prize money over several divisions. Last year's winner ... well, let's just say if you can follow in her footsteps then you have a very promising career ahead of you. You've already missed the entry deadline but you can check out the event at 12:30pm on Saturday.
As far as other Expo events go, then there's the "Cougar Energy Drink" hot mom contest - we're all in favor of hot moms, but does anyone really want to be called a "Cougar" these days?
Live Online Coverage
Many don't realize that one of the easiest things to do is an online web cast - all you need is a laptop, a camera and an internet connection. The potato heads from Idaho will be setting one up for the third year in a row, so if you want to view the event live head on over to the official web cast page. This is the best way to get your coverage fix if you're into the big mass monsters on the male bodybuilding side.
For our part, we'll stick with the women. Pre-judging call-outs are an excellent indication of how competitors are doing - with the potentially highest ranking competitors being called up first. To see the best women's coverage and the figure and fitness call-outs (and to learn what they mean) you simply need to bookmark the FigureRX live Europa coverage page.
IFBB Professional Figure
The best thing about IFBB professional figure is that the athletes are some of the best in the world, but that Olympic-level quality is combined with amazing beauty and gorgeous stage presentation. The Europa will have some of the best athletes in America, including last minute entrant Paola Almerico from Florida (who is ranked 7th in the world) and Shannon Meteraud, a top fitness competitor who is switching to figure because of an injury. Some of the competitors, like Elisha Archibald and Jane Awad, are coming off of excellent placings at the Jacksonville show two weeks ago while others, like Jelena Abbou, are genetic marvels and genuine international superstars. Mix in a couple of pro debuts from hot recent pro card winners Amy Lee Martin (Indiana) and Teresa Gillian (Colorado), along with underrated but amazing athletes like Tennessee's Kate Shelby and Tivisay Briceno and you can see why this will be a great all-around show.
As usual, you can get to know all of the competitors in advance by clicking on their names at the FigureRX coverage page - and that's the same place that you will be able to see instant results.
IFBB Professional Fitness
On the professional fitness side, the contest is wide open but the field will be led by veteran Tracey Greenwood and upstart Erin Riley, both of whom are already qualified for the Olympia. You won't have to look far for physique excellence, because there will be a few quality Texans like Traci Redding (with otherworldly abdominals) and beautiful Kristina Rojas. If you like power-packed routines, after you watch Riley you will still get to see fireball Canadian Myriam Capes and the high-flying Sandra Wickham. Check out all the competitors right here on BW.
IFBB Professional Women's Bodybuilding
Most of the top competitors from last weekend's pro bodybuilding contest in Tampa will be making there way across the Gulf, and Canadian Nicole Ball will be looking to make it two in a row. We think she'll have her hands full with the symmetrically muscular lightweight competitors Beni Lopez, who turned pro by winning last years's Nationals and Jennifer Sedia, who took the overall at last year's USA Championships. You can also see all the bodybuilding competitor list right here on BW.
The Official Europa Super Show After Party
Jason Dhir has been known for years as one of the great party planners, and his events at the Arnold Invitational are well attended and highly appreciated each year. This year he is taking his A-game to Dallas where he will be putting on a party on Saturday night the 16th at the Lizard Lounge. Check out the event poster below.
