The 2008 Natural Michigan Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championships were held on Saturday, July 19 at the Redford Theater in Detroit, Michigan. Produced by the Professional Fitness Group, it remains one of Michigan's best showcases for natural athletes and a NPC Team Universe qualifier. This year, victor Jeff Vasquez displayed an excellent champion physique in the Men's Open Bodybuilding Division. We should see more of Jeff Vasquez in the future. The Figure Division was won by Angela Scheer.

Angela was born in Peoria, Illinois. Six months into her first year she was uprooted, and along with her family, they moved into Troy, Michigan and have been living in Michigan ever since. Angela has always been into sports and has tried many activities. "I was in Ballet and Tap dance when I was very young, from age 3 to age 7. At age 7, I wanted to try something new so I joined gymnastics. I competed as a gymnast for 5 years, but left the sport to join middle school sports." At middle school, in Warren, Michigan, she ran track and played volleyball. Once she got to Warren Mott high school, Angela joined the cheerleading squad where she cheered for three years. By her final year of high school, Angela Scheer began to display that she had a little extraordinary zest for physical activity. "I had enough cheerleading and again wanted to try something new. I went out for the guys wrestling team. I wrestled on Varsity at weight 103 lbs and had a personal record of pinning a guy in 16 seconds at a Varsity Tournament."

After graduating high school, Angela went to Wayne State University and got a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration with a major in Managment. Angela did not join any college sports, but started rock climbing and has been climbing ever since.

Physical training has always been a huge part of her life. She loves to train and I has a huge passion for Figure. Recently, Angela Scheer competed in her first Figure Show, the 2008 NPC Natural Michigan on July 19th. "I went in with a personal goal of getting top Five, but I ended up winning first place for the short class and the overall figure."

"I plan to compete in the Central States on August 2nd. From there, who knows, but I will definitely be competing many more times. I love the sport and I am excited for the future." Angela can become your friend at her
MySpace website.

A highlite of the evening show was a performance by natural IFBB Professional Jeff Willet, owner and operator of the Powerhouse Gym in Adrian Michigan. Jeff received his IFBB Pro card in 2003 and specializes in his work as a Natural Bodybuilding Trainer. Jeff paid his respect to the Natural Michigan, a contest that he won early in his career. Jeff has advocated a plain and simple training philosophy, "Consistent execution of an intelligent plan in and out of the gym over a span of time yields results. The muscle-building equation is pretty simple: Train hard and heavy with basic lifts to stimulate muscle growth, and then be consistent with your nutrition outside the gym to fully recover and respond to the stimulus created."
