Kenny Kassel, a well known and beloved industry figure who served as emcee and expediter at many bodybuilding and fitness shows, was found dead in his apartment earlier today.
I have personally known Kenny since I was 13 years old (I am now 24), before I started fitness and bodybuilding. He scouted me at a modeling convention in New York and started encouraging me to compete in bodybuilding, and I adamantly said *No* I don't want muscles!
Then I started to train and when I ran into him a few years later he was so happy. :) Kenny had been following me through the sport but had not seen me personally for a while. Kenny always knew what to say, was always truthful with his honest opinions. This is a sad tragedy and he will be missed, especially at the Arnold Expo in two months because I just spoke with him and did an interview in Columbus earlier this year.
Editor's Note on 12-26: An autopsy has indicated that the cause of death was congestive heart failure.
