Terence Lewis is from Detroit, Michigan. Detroit is not always an easy place to grow up in and do well. But Terry has done well. He has been athletic for his entire life. In school, he excelled in sports playing little league football, middle school basketball and football, and in high school, football, basketball and track. Terence played well enough to be given a full ride football scholarship to Michigan State University.  After 4 years, he was drafted in the 6th round by the San Diego Chargers, and played for two years before a knee injury cut into his dreams of a pro football career.

But Terry has always kept his body in shape. Terry said, "I’ve always been intrigued with body symmetry and how weight training can completely transform one’s body.  I quickly became interested in body building and I have been training personally for 10 years.   However, it was not until 2009, that I decided to enter my first competition." On March 28 of 2009, he entered the NPC Novice Michigan Bodybuilding Competition, and won the Open Light Heavyweight, Masters, and Overall titles. Terry was happy with the outcome and motivated to continue.

On April 25, 2009, Terry decided to do the Natural Flint Mid-Michigan Bodybuilding Competition, walking away with the same 3 titles again.  "By this time my competitive juices were flowing and I began to feel more comfortable in my presentation.  With each competition, I became more aware of the changes I had to make in order to take my body to the next level.  This took discipline, dedication, and more intense training on my part."

On May 2, 2009, Terry Lewis entered the Grand Rapids Bodybuilding Competition.  This time he was up against some of the best bodybuilders in the State. Terry won the Masters title in this competition as well as the Most Muscular and Most Symmetrical awards.  One week later, on May 9, he entered the Michigan Bodybuilding State Championship and, once again, took First Place in the Masters Division.  On July 18, he entered the Natural Michigan ( tested ) Bodybuilding State Championship, and again Terry won the Masters title, Light Heavyweight Class, and the Overall title for that show.

Terry told us, "My desire is to continue to excel in the sport of bodybuilding, competing on a national level and reaching new heights.  I am truly a competitor at heart and don’t like to lose.  I enjoy the challenge of competing with other body builders and my goal is to be at my peak performance each and every time I step on stage.  Second place may be acceptable for some but not for me.  I expect to win and I am going to do everything in my power to do so."

Lewis is a personal trainer at the Powerhouse Gym in the Highland Park area of Detroit and at other locations. Terry's motivation and working philosophy sets him apart in his work and training. "It gives me personal gratification as a trainer to see my clients work towards reaching their goals.  I also educate my clients on proper nutrition, consistency, and intensity which I feel are key elements in transforming the body.  Moreover, I am strongly concerned about the risk of obesity in our youth and how the ramifications of a sedentary childhood can foster low self esteem and lack of confidence that will often impair their social growth and academic development.  It is my dedication to strive to reach the pinnacle of bodybuilding, along with helping our youth and adults to become healthier beings."
